Name not on IPS elevation list, ex-cricketer approaches high court

Former cricketer Joginder Sharma has moved the Punjab and Haryana high court over his exclusion from the list of candidates considered for elevation to the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre. Sharma, who serves as a DSP in Haryana Police, claims that despite joining in 2007 and completing probation earlier than many others on the list, his name was left out. He argues that the state authorities wrongly mentioned in a letter that his service was confirmed after training, which goes against the appointment letter and relevant rules.
