About Kovalam
Beautiful white sand pleasure beaches ideal for sun bath in the God's Own Country - Kerala
Kovalam :-
Kovalam is a small village on the Malabar coast along the Kerala shore line. Kovalam means a grove of coconut trees and truly the coconut trees along the beaches gives it a ravishing look. Kovalam was originally a pilgrim spot, where people worshipped ancestors on the black moon day of Karkidakam, when it was called Avadu Thura. The place was also famous as the birth place of Kovalam poets who were considered mile stones of ancient Malayalam language. Then it became the place where the Travancore kings went on holiday and during the British period, the European administrators. It was in the seventies that Kovalam became an island in the conservative Kerala society.
