‘Model Muslim minority’: Now, China’s crackdown on Islam is coming for kids

A recent Foreign Policy report reveals that Beijing’s crackdown techniques, refined in Xinjiang, are now being used against new targets in China. During Ramzan, Muslims in Yuxi received a WeChat message from the Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs authorizing surveillance of fasting schoolchildren and instructing local authorities to investigate minors’ participation in religious activities.
